Chelsea are reportedly hoping to hijack Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Mathis Tel. After contacting the player’s agent before flying to England to finalise the deal. Chelsea had been
interested in Tel throughout most of the January transfer window. And the player decided just before the deadline that he wanted to leave Bayern Munich.
It is believed that Tel turned down a move to Chelsea due to concerns about his playing opportunities under Enzo Maresca. Spurs also
failed to make their first attempt at signing the 19-year-old on a permanent basis.
However, the Spurs decided to make a new offer, a loan with an option to buy. And successfully convinced Tel to join the team.
